Toenail Fungus/Discolouration

What is a toenail fungus or discolouration?

Elevated and discoloured toenails commonly stem from a prevalent fungal infection. The yellowish discoloration of the toenail is aesthetically displeasing, resulting in a pronounced visual alteration of the nail. Additionally, the toenail can evoke discomfort, manifesting as darkened, thick, and deeply ridged. Moreover, it may exhibit brittleness and detachment from the nail bed.

Toenail issues often arise from trauma, prolonged nail polish use, or aggressive pedicures, leading to discoloration. Toenail fungus is a common cause of elevation and discoloration, with skin cracks allowing entry for pathogens in warm, humid environments. Seniors, diabetics, and those exposed to public areas are particularly vulnerable, especially if they wear tight, non-breathable shoes.
