MYCOBACTERIUM FORTUITUM

This troublesome bacteria might make you think twice about shaving your legs before a pedicure. You can contract Mycobacterium Fortuitum from foot baths, especially when leg shaving occurs beforehand.

What are the symptoms of a Mycobacterium Fortuitum infection?

You may experience large boils on your toe, foot, or leg, often accompanied by smaller bumps. While some may heal on their own, others can persist and develop into open sores. Mycobacterium Fortuitum boils can be drained by a medical professional and treated with strong antibiotics, but they can unfortunately lead to significant scarring.

Make sure to check that your nail technician uses sterilized tools at the salon, and don’t hesitate to inquire about their cleaning practices. After all, you want to indulge yourself, but not with a bug like Mycobacterium Fortuitum.
